Trockene vs. dehydrierte Haut

To find the right skincare, it is important to know your skin type and skin condition.

This is not so easy, especially with dry skin, as it is often confused with dehydrated skin.

Today, we will briefly and concisely summarize how you can tell the difference.

Dry skin is a skin type. It not only produces too little sebum, but it also lacks moisture.

The hydrolipidic film and thus the skin barrier are impaired, which, combined with the lack of skin oils, promotes additional moisture loss.

You can recognize dry skin by the following characteristics:

  • it feels tight
  • it is prone to fine lines
  • it looks dull
  • it is sensitive
  • it is prone to redness
  • it can have flaky patches and is prone to itching

Dry skin ages faster and takes a relatively long time to regain its balance, rebuild its hydrolipidic film and pH level, and thus establish a strong skin barrier.

The same applies here: a continuous skincare routine is essential for a lasting improvement in the skin. It needs lipids (fats) and moisture regularly.

We therefore recommend skincare with both high-quality oils and NMF (natural moisturizing factors of the skin). Squalane, colloidal oatmeal, argan, rice bran, and sunflower oils are particularly well suited for this.

Dehydrated skin is a skin condition.

The skin lacks its natural moisturizing factors, cannot retain moisture in the skin, and is moisture-deficient.

In contrast to dry skin, however, it produces enough oil and can even tend to be oily (oily-dehydrated skin).

You can recognize dehydrated skin by the fact that it feels tight, which becomes noticeable especially after cleansing, due to environmental influences, and depending on the weather, e.g. during the cold season.

For skincare, it primarily needs moisturizing products with natural moisturizing factors, i.e., active ingredients that have the property of binding moisture in the skin. The following are well suited for this: hyaluronic acid, amino acids, aloe vera, panthenol & glycerin.
