Pflanzliche Öle vs. Mineralöl

Most conventional skincare products contain mineral oils that impair the skin's central function, as they are merely adsorbed by the skin rather than absorbed. As a result, they accumulate on the skin and block its exchange and regulation mechanisms.

Unphysiological substances such as mineral oils alter the skin's barrier structures by forming a film and make them permeable. This means that the epidermis, in particular, can no longer perform its protective function against transepidermal water loss.

The skin loses moisture, becomes dehydrated, and its acid mantle becomes unbalanced. This not only leads to a feeling of tightness and a constant need to reapply skincare products but also opens the door to bacteria and other microorganisms, which can now settle on the skin unhindered.

The result is skin irritation, blemishes, and inflammatory processes.

In contrast, high-quality, natural plant oils penetrate the stratum corneum of the epidermis and are therefore absorbed by the skin. They can thus actively neutralize aggressive and reactive molecules as free-radical scavengers, which plays an essential role in anti-aging care. Furthermore, they naturally support the regeneration of damaged barriers and the function of the epidermal immune system.
