Understanding blemish-prone skin – instead of fighting it

Why blackheads, pimples & Co. develop and what the skin really needs

Almost everyone is familiar with pimples, blackheads, and redness. But blemishes are far more than just a cosmetic nuisance. They are often a sign that our skin has fallen out of balance – that it is missing something, is overloaded, or is simply not getting what it needs. The typical reaction: we reach for classic anti-pimple products that strongly dry out, degrease, or disinfect. While this provides short-term relief, it exacerbates the problem in the long run. That is because we are fighting the symptom, not the cause.

At Love it Pure, we believe: only those who truly understand the skin can effectively support it. Because our skin is not just an outer shell, but a highly complex organ. It protects us, regulates, breathes, and communicates. Its language is feelings of tightness, dryness, blemishes, redness, or excessive sebum production. And we should not respond to these signals with control, but with cooperation.

Blemish-prone skin usually arises from an interplay of several factors. These include increased sebum production, keratinization disorders, bacterial colonization, and a disrupted skin barrier. It is often wrongly assumed that only oily skin is affected. However, even dry or sensitive skin can develop blemishes. Anyone who cleanses their skin too harshly, strips it of lipids, or uses overly aggressive active ingredients will throw it off balance. The result is skin that can no longer regulate itself, produces excessive sebum, and thereby encourages new blemishes.

Many conventional anti-pimple products are particularly problematic in this regard. They contain alcohol, drying surfactants, aggressive exfoliants, or fragrances. These ingredients can damage the skin barrier, weaken the skin's own defenses, and increase inflammation. The skin loses moisture, enters a kind of emergency state, and begins to produce even more sebum as a compensatory measure. This creates a vicious cycle that is difficult to break. The path to healthy, clear skin does not lie in strictness, but in understanding and balance. Do not work against symptoms, but with the skin on the cause.

The skin's moisture and lipid balance play a central role in this. Our skin relies on having sufficient water and protective fats at its disposal. This combination ensures that the skin remains supple, its barrier function is intact, and it can regenerate itself. If lipids are missing, the skin becomes dry, vulnerable, and loses its natural protective function. But oily skin also needs fats – just the right kind and in the right amount. If it is degreased or treated with drying agents, it reacts with excessive sebum production to compensate for the deficit.

This is precisely where the care philosophy of Love it Pure begins. Our products work with the skin, not against it. We rely on physiological lipids that are very similar in structure to human skin sebum. These include, in particular, squalane and jojoba oil. These lipids are non-comedogenic, absorb quickly, and regulate sebum production without clogging pores. Squalane occurs naturally in human sebum, is light, oxidation-stable, and has a protective effect. Jojoba oil, a liquid wax, is extremely well-tolerated, anti-inflammatory, and helps to bring the skin back into balance.

With our innovative 2-phase care we offer you the opportunity to individually control the proportion of moisture and lipids in your daily routine. Our Refreshing Face Fluid provides intensive, deep-acting moisture with hyaluronic acid and soothing plant extracts. The Day & Night Face Oil supplies the skin with valuable, skin-identical lipids. Depending on your skin's needs, the season, or your life stage, you can combine both products flexibly – mixed directly in the palm of your hand or applied by layering.

In summer or with oily skin, a drop of oil in the fluid or a pure moisturizing treatment is usually sufficient. In winter, in the evening, or with dry, sensitive skin, a higher lipid content may be called for. This allows you to determine how rich your care is – entirely without overwhelming your skin or stripping it of anything. This individual care principle supports your skin's self-regulation, strengthens its natural barrier, and ensures a balanced, clear complexion in the long term.

Complementing our basic routine of cleanser, toner, fluid, and oil, our boosters offer targeted active ingredient care. The BHA Booster helps with clogged pores and oily skin, while the Anti-Redness Booster has a calming effect on inflammation and redness. In addition, the niacinamide it contains can help regulate sebum production. For dry skin with a compromised barrier, the Barrier Booster supports regeneration with valuable ceramides. All products are fragrance-free, formulated to be low-irritant, and designed to accompany the skin in its natural rhythm – not to disrupt it.

Clear, healthy skin does not come from control or deprivation, but from balance and understanding. With Love it Pure, you give your skin exactly what it needs: gentle, intelligent care that speaks its language.
